A few months ago I had the opportunity to travel to Mali in West Africa while volunteering for Interplast on a medical mission. While my duties on site had nothing to do with ergonomics per se, I could not help but notice the stunning posture of the Malians. Their beautiful way of standing and their strong sense of center of gravity let them easily carry just about anything on their heads (well, it looked easy to me). Read more

Now that we're six months in, it's pretty funny to look back on those first few weeks of parenting. Greg and I just didn't get it. She wants to be held ALL the time? Surely not. Here, change her diaper. No, stick this pacifier in the mouth. She spit it out? Is she hungry? I thought she just ate. Try just putting her down in the bassinet. Ohhh no, that doesn't work. ...Read More.

The folks over at ErgoBaby Carriers were nice enough to send us one of their Organic Carriers so we could try it out. As you all know, I love wearing Colin and most commonly use my Moby Wrap. I do love my Moby (and still do), but as Colin gets older I have started wanting a soft shell carrier (like the Ergo) that does not have fabric to mess with and straps to tie. Well, after using the Ergo the past few weeks all I have to say is I LOVE IT! It is AMAZING. Seriously. Love. ...Read More.

I have reviewed A LOT of baby carriers over the past three years. Slings. Pouches. Mei Tais. Wraps. You-Name-It.

Today, my friend Dayna called and asked me which carrier was my favorite. I answered without hesitation, "ERGO!" I didn't have to even think twice. I'm not saying that the other carriers are worthless (in fact, I think it is very handy to have a handful of carriers around to fit your baby's age, personality, and mood), but the ERGO is truly the "best of the best." It is comfortable, easy to put on, easy to take off, and...it makes my baby happy (which makes me happy too)....Read More.

I was recently given the opportunity to test out an ERGObaby Organic carrier for our Go Green, Baby feature. I was sent the Organic Cranberry carrier with the Nautilus print lining. The carrier is made up of 100% organic cotton twill with 100% organic cotton sateen lining and hood, and has 100% organic cotton batting in the body of the carrier to soften the edges, now that is 100% green!...Read More.

My daughter loves to be held close, and I love to have her close. Now that she is over 1, I can carry her on my back with the ERGObaby. The ERGObaby makes carrying a 27 pound toddler really easy, this is why I have chosen it as a My Wee View Fav of 2009. You can read the complete review here. Since I have a review blog, I frequently get asked what to buy expecting parents. Now that the ERGObaby has the new Heart 2 Heart insert (perfect for brand new babies), I always suggest the ERGObaby carrier....Read More.

When Ergobaby sent me the Organic Dark Chocolate Ergo for review I was beyond excited to try it out! Over the years I have heard nothing but positive feedback on this carrier and now after testing it out myself I can completely understand what all the fuss is about! We've seen Ethan Hawke carrying his precious Clementine and Karolina Korkova toting baby Tobin with the Ergo Baby Carrier. Even Kelly Rutherford and Carrie Ann Moss are fans of this fabulous product!...Read More.

When ERGObaby offered me one of their baby carriers to try out, I jumped at the chance as I'm a huge fan of wearing my little munchkin. Even though he's only 13 weeks old, we've already gone through four types of baby carriers and the ERGO is our fifth and final as the search is over for the perfect one. The ERGO is a soft carrier that can hold a newborn up to toddler age and is super versatile. Just snap on the ERGO in the front for the wee ones and when they get bigger, strap the ERGO on the back and the toddlers will love it. You can even use the ERGO in the hip-carrier position. We tried the ERGObaby for two straight days and here is why we loved it so much. First, it is so comfortable to wear baby, you almost forget you have something buckled around your waist and shoulders....Read More.

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but, here in Ithaca at least, an Ergo baby carrier is a mama's best friend. We thought it high time we heard from one of our many Ergo-loving customers with some specific thoughts on this beloved product....Read More.

I am an avid baby wearer, all of my babies have been worn for at least a few months of their lives. I have done the snugglie, the wraps, mei teis, buckle teis, slings, pouches you name it I have either tried it or owned it. One thing I have aspired to own though and never had the chance was the Ergo. I fell in love with the carriers but everytime I went to buy one I could not pick one I liked more then the other so gave up and bought something different. I am not sure what I was thinking, I have the Ergo now and wish I had it when I started having my babies years ago....Read More.

By now you know I LOVE to wear my babies! I have found an amazing carrier by ERGObaby. I have to start with the most exciting thing to me about the company..their ethics. Yes, the carrier is amazing and I will get to that, but it makes me proud to wear my little guy in a carrier that I know was made fair trade. All carriers are made by workers 18 and older. ERGObaby carries an entire line made with 100% organic cotton. Love it!...Read More.

Up front, I'm saying I LOVE my Ergo baby carrier. For the first six months or so, we were using the Baby Bjorn that we inherited off Kel & Jason. It had its merits, but I couldn't really tell you them, because I physically couldn't use it. John was fine with it. Alex loved being in it. However, carrying 9.5kg all on your shoulders did not work for me. I used it once when Alex was 6 months old (and 9.5kg) to run into the shops for 10 minutes. It took me 3 days, constant headaches, and intense shoulder massages before I felt normal again...Read More.

I'm not able to do full workouts yet, but thanks to my ERGO baby carrier and Heart2Heart Infant Insert I am able to squeeze in some exercise!

The ERGO baby carrier is honestly the best carrier out there---there is no pressure on your back and it is super easy to put on by yourself. I used the Baby Bjorn with my first son and it gave me a constant backache. It also was useless after about 4 months because he got so big and could no longer fit in it. The ERGO on the other hand can be used for 3-4 years, so if you are looking for a baby carrier, invest your money in an ERGO.Read More.

Cute cute cute is all I would say about this doll baby backpack! Actually I will say more but cute is the first thing that comes to mind. This adorable baby backpack is actually not for babies but for dolls & teddies (it will also happily accommodate elephants, and monkeys, but not baby brothers...). I was extremely excited to try out the ERGO and when it arrived I was at first surprised at the waist buckle length. As I will tell you on Wednesday, my first introduction to babywearing was via my beloved Belle Baby Carrier and that waist strap is long in a way that I would never question if it might fit me, but with the ERGO I questioned it. It did fit, but being still in a postpartum body I opted for their most commonly purchased accessory the waist extension. After attaching the waist extension (which I hardly notice by the way), I am extremely comfortable in both sitting and standing while wearing the ERGO. Read More.

As an avid babywearer, I've tried many different types of carriers in the past including slings, pouches and wraps. Moms, we've got some news: All the postnatal strengthening in the world can't fix the damage you're doing by using a baby carrier that isn't ergonomically designed. ERGObaby is serious about baby wearing - their company is dedicated to making baby wearing comfortable for both moms and dads (as much as I love the cozy look of slings, they don't look daddy-friendly to me). The company is also very big on promoting not only baby wearing, but the whole concept of attachment parenting as well. What I like about ERGObaby though, is that even if you are not big into baby wearing or attachment parenting, they still have products that will work for your family (consider the rest a bonus option!)...Read More.

It's no secret that I love wearing my baby. There's nothing like the close, nurturing contact of having your little one's body next to yours and being able to interact with them face to face and provinge them with the loving security a baby only feels in the arms of their mother. Since I've had four kids, my back is not quite as it used to be and needs a little tender loving care, but that doesn't mean I want to give up or sacrifice wearing my baby. This is why I was so intrigued by the Ergo Baby Carrier and the concept that it was designed to maintain healthy posture for both you and your baby while you wear your baby!...Read More.

Evaluation of the ERGO
Danielle Kagan, OTR, CHT
Director of Hand Therapy
STAR Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation

All in all, my feedback is positive.  As far as backpack carriers go,it is one of the most comfortable and convenient carriers to use.  As some one who is only 5'1", I found many of the framed carriers awkward to put on.  I am able to get my son in the ERGO without assistance as a backpack or forward carrier - and as a side carrier. Clearly the best part is that the weight of my child is down in the lumbar region with close surface area to my back.  Myself and other people I speak to have loved it because it is easier to take with them than any other backpack carrier.  The only negative is that the baby has to look to the side since they are below the level of our shoulders - a small trade off (since most kids don't seem to mind) to take the stress off the parent’s back.
