Daddy has gone to sea with the navy, we are in a new area, new house, and a baby is on the way. He is gone for the first time in Allie's life and my breast milk is drying up. One morning after a rough night's sleep, empty feeling in the family bed, and no milk all night, Allie wakes up crying and asks for Daddy and asks to nurse and then asks to be carried. So I asked her what she wanted to be carried in. She says "errrrgo". I get my ergo out and start to put it on my front,... as is most comfortable for me with my pregnancy.
She says, "Nooo ... daddy's errrrgo." I am trying not to cry missing daddy myself, as I start to put on daddy's Ergo. She asks to be on my back "like daddy does". She twiddles my hair and hugs onto my back for several hours and we talk about things and she quietly asks me about things. She and I both feel better and when she is ready she asks to come down. There are so many powerful aspects to how we are raising Allie. Her daddy and her are so attached and we have always used baby wearing as a security nest and safe bonding tool. She knew she needed to feel comforted this morning, and she knew she missed her bonding "like daddy does". Baby wearing was there when we needed it, and daddy's "errrrgo" was there when Allie needed it
